Digby graduated from Cambridge University in 1981 and qualified as a solicitor in 1984. He founded the Johnson Partnership in 1990. He qualified as a Higher Courts Advocate in 2007.

John Wilford

John Wilford

Partner, Solicitor (Chesterfield)

John is a partner based at our Chesterfield office. He is qualified as a Higher Court Advocate. He obtained his degree from Coventry University and qualified as solicitor in 1985. John has been with Johnsons since 2010. He deals mainly with general crime but also has Regulatory Law experience, dealing with cases before Disciplinary Tribunals

Emma qualified as a solicitor in 1999, having studied at Keele University. She became a partner in 2002 and specialises in Youth Court work. Emma dealt with the first case ever reconstructed on Crimewatch.

Vicki studied at the University of Northampton. She joined the firm in January 1997 as a Crown Court Clerk. Vicki qualified as a solicitor in July 2000. She is now the head of our Lincoln Office.

Michaela graduated from De Montford University. She joined Johnsons in 2002 and qualified as a solicitor in 2006. She became a partner in 2014.

Supervisor of the Doncaster, Barnsley and Sheffield offices. Andy does magistrates and police stations mainly.

Alastair Young

Alastair Young

Partner, Prison Law, Solicitor (Nottingham)

Alastair has been a fixture of the Johnson Partnership for over 20 years and a partner since 2009; he was responsible for setting up the Prison law department in 2005 and has been involved in representing prisoners for a number of years in various challenges to the parole board, ministry of Justice and prison service. On a number of occasions he has successfully brought judicial review proceedings in the High Court against these agencies, quashing decisions considered illegal on behalf of clients. His other interests include theatre, current affairs and English literature

Theo graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 1999 and joined The Johnson Partnership the following year. In the Crown Court Department he became our first trainee to win the prestigious Hammond Cup for advocacy. He qualified as a Solicitor in 2003, gained Higher Rights in 2007 before becoming a Partner in 2009. Theo has an excellent record of achieving positive outcomes for his clients from members of the general public to high profile individuals and professional sportspeople. He is a tenacious and formidable trial advocate .

Donna qualified in March 2001 and joined The Johnson Partnership in October 2011, becoming a partner in 2017. She is now head of the Mansfield office.

Nicola Hornby

Nicola Hornby

Partner, Solicitor, Head of Business Law (Nottingham)

Nicola has been with the firm since September 1990, 2 months after The Johnson Partnership was first formed. She qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and was one of the first solicitors in Nottingham to become a Higher Court Advocate (Solicitor Advocate) and regularly appear in the Crown Court. She has conducted cases of all levels as both a litigator and an advocate in the Magistrates’ and Crown Court and the Court of Appeal.

Nicola leads the Business Defence Department and specialises in dealing with all aspects of business crime and fraud. She is also a Peer Reviewer for the Legal Aid Agency, reviewing the work of other solicitors. In her spare time Nicola is the Chair of Governors of a local primary school.

Emma, as she is known, graduated from Newcastle University in 1998. She joined Johnsons in 2001 and qualified as an HCA in 2007. She now leads the Crown Court team.

Euan Edwards

Partner, Solicitor, Head of Prison Law (Nottingham)

Euan joined the firm in 2005 as part of his degree at Nottingham Law School. He worked in the crown court department before qualifying as a solicitor in 2012 dealing in all aspects of criminal law and prison law, for which he is now Head of the Department.

Sarah studied politics and international business at the University of Liverpool then did her Graduate Diploma in Law at Trent and the Legal Practice Course part time whilst working at Johnsons. She joined Johnsons in 2011

Abbie Edwards

Abbie Edwards

Partner, Solicitor (Mansfield, Lincoln)

Abbie Studied law at BCUC, graduating in 2005 with an LLB (Hons). She then went on to Huddersfield Uni in 2005 for her LPC. She was admitted as a solicitor March 2008.

Abbie started working at Johnsons in 2011, She works at the Mansfield and Lincoln Offices, dealing with all types of criminal law including youths and clients with mental health issues.

Jaki started with the Firm in 2014 before becoming a Trainee Solicitor. 

Jaki qualified as a Solicitor in 2018 and a Duty Solicitor in 2019.

Kirsty Sargent

Kirsty Sargent

Partner, Solicitor (Chesterfield)

Kirsty joined Johnsons in December 2013, after working at a large criminal defence firm in London. She qualified as a solicitor in early 2013 and obtained her Duty Solicitor accreditation shortly after.

Kirsty can be found in our Chesterfield office, undertaking all types of work at the Magistrates Court and Police Stations.

Yvonne Wragg

Yvonne joined Johnsons in March 2003 as a police station clerk at the Nottingham office, having studied Law at Derby University. She went on to pass the LPC at Nottingham Law school and qualified in July 2010, working out of our Mansfield office. She then moved to be supervisor of the Sheffield office in 2017.
